Chanelle Scheepers has climbed two places in the women's world tennis rankings after she reached the second round at the French Open in Paris.

Scheepers, the SA women's number one, rose two positions to 43rd in the latest rankings list released on Monday.

She defeated Spaniard Laura Pous-Tio 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 in the first round at Roland Garros.

She was then eliminated by Russian Nadia Petrova, the former world number three, in straight sets in the second round.
