Stockholm – Robin Soderling says he will miss the French Open, Wimbledon and the Olympics this year but he's not ready to give up on his career.

The 27-year-old Swede said Monday that he is still struggling with his fitness after being sidelined with mononucleosis last year.

Soderling said: “I really want to come back. I haven't turned 28 yet and hopefully I have many years left. Hopefully, I'll get back into shape fairly quickly.”

The two-time French Open finalist hasn't played a tournament since winning at Bastad in July last year.

Soderling said he doesn't know when he'll be back but he wants to give his body time to recover fully, because he encountered setbacks when he resumed training following the illness. – Sapa-AP
