Rio de Janeiro - Football's ruling body Fifa on Thursday warned fans not to misuse special areas in World Cup stadiums reserved for disabled people.

A photo on the sports website of the O Globo paper showed a woman standing in front of a wheelchair during the Brazil v Mexico game in Fortaleza.

It was not clear whether it was her wheelchair or whether there were other reasons beyond a visible physical disability that she required a wheelchair. “If someone comes in a wheelchair, and begins to get up and celebrate, we do not know if there was a miracle... That's cheating,” Fifa marketing director Thierry Weil said, when queried about the photo during a news conference.

Weil said that disabled people have to present a certificate for these designated areas or will have their tickets withdrawn if they provide no proof.
