DURBAN - It's back to the drawing board for Gqom Queen Babes Wodumo and her record label West Ink Records, after it was confirmed they had parted ways with the public relations firm representing the artist.
African Star Communications was roped in by the record company to handle the public affairs of the young artist after an embarrassing administrative gaffe saw Babes Wodumo miss out on her first overseas trip to the BET Awards after a bungle with her visa application.
It has barely been a month since West Ink Records made public it's intention to seek external assistance.

In its statement released on social media, African Star said it could not agree contractual terms with the record company. The record company wanted the PR company to handle the PR affairs of all the artists under the record stable and not Babes alone.
African Star Communications said their company policy was to handle individual clients and not record labels, and these clients were limited to 10 at a time.
"We have appreciated the opportunity to work on the Babes Wodumo brand for the past month and wish Babes success in all her future endeavours," the PR company said.
Meanwhile, the West Ink Records label has signed a new deal with Capacity Relations.
