Popular model, actress and TV presenter Pearl Thusi has been going through her fair share of drama in recent weeks - now the talk is that her sports presenter boyfriend, Robert Marawa, has dumped her.

Independent Media contacted Thusi’s manager, Sarit Tomlinson, of Capacity Relations, to establish the facts.

“Pearl and Robert are very much together. The rumour is a 100 percent lie. It is very disappointing that people can create such malicious stories. There have been malicious acts and it’s been disappointing.

“We have not been paying attention to every rumour but it has been a matter of setting the record straight about lies that have been circulating,” she said.

Rumours are flying after an online publication reported this week that Marawa caught Thusi making out with club manager Chris Nkosi, who is also a dancer, and radio and TV producer Lalla Hirayama’s ex-boyfriend.

The report has alleged that the incident led to the break-up.

It has not rained but poured for Thusi since her suspension from Metro FM two weeks ago after she and Phat Joe bashed Bonang Matheba during their Thursday night show.

Apparently, the stories of the break-up reached Pearl’s ailing father in KwaZulu-Natal and he was also concerned.

“No parent wants to read lies about their child. He was concerned but Pearl assured him that all is fine. He has been very supportive,” said Tomlinson.

Another rumour doing the rounds last week was that Thusi had been fired from her Friday night Live Amp show.

“I would not say she is not affected by the recent events because she is only human. But she is growing strong through it. She keeps her chin up and she will come out of it stronger and better,” she said.

Regarding the presenter’s suspension, SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said: “The SABC will not be compelled to discuss this issue as it is an internal matter. We will communicate the outcome in due course.”
