The discovery of the Higgs particle is, without doubt, a magnificent scientific achievement. It completes the picture of the “building blocks of the universe”.
The current concept of our universe elucidates three components. The first is the material mass that was subjected to the second factor, namely the Big Bang, that resulted in the dispersion of millions upon millions of particles, and the third factor being the establishment of mass in these particles by the Higgs particle and its associated field so as to become the building blocks of our universe.
The above thoughts raise many questions, but sadly, as yet, there are few, if any, answers.
Indeed, is man meant to know the “how” and “why” of the origin of the universe – in terms of both its physical structure and its contents – which would include all living creatures as well as man?
Interestingly, this idea seems to be verified in the Bible in Deuteronomy 29:29, “The secret things belong unto the Lord our God, but those things revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
Mental frustration and mental gymnastics produce mental torture. Accepting what is not meant to be known will bring tranquillity of mind, and harmony in survival.
