T-SHIRTS with a slogan referring to the murder of honeymooner Anni Dewani in Gugulethu near Cape Town in 2010 have revived controversy over the incident.

The T-shirts, the brainchild of Durban businessman Dinesh Dowlath, carry the message: “Dewani Tours – Treat your wife to a killer holiday”.

The T-shirts reportedly angered Anni’s family as well as Gugulethu residents. Anni’s widower, Shrien, is facing extradition to stand trial in SA after being implicated in her murder.

Mzwandile Zwane, who runs Liziwe’s Guest House in Gugulethu, said it was shocking for anyone to make light of Anni’s murder. The T-shirts could “open old wounds”, he added.

Dowlath said there was a market for the T-shirts, as people “see the humour in them”. – Staff Reporter
