Johannesburg - The entire Newtown Precinct will go on a musical journey on Saturday when the epic Hansa Festival of Legends rocks Joburg.
Manager Refilwe Maluleke said artists had chosen their songs and were rehearsing at the Bassline in Newtown.
The Oriental Plaza will be used for parking, and restaurants around the area – ko’Spotong and Sophiatown – will be open for the duration.
Mary Fitzgerald Square will host kwaito on the square and the main stage.
TKZee, DJ Cleo and Professor are some of the acts that will be entertaining the crowd in the kwaito section, while Kelly Khumalo and The Soil will pay tribute to Brenda Fassie alongside her son, Bongani, on the main stage.
Zaki Ibrahim will pay tribute to Lebo Mathosa with the remaining members of Boom Shaka. A special kwaito tribute will be performed by Arthur, Mdu, Thebe and Spikiri with hip-hop wonderboy Khuli Chana.
The Bassline will host the legends lounge and feature The Muffinz, DJ Lulo Café, Lilly Million and Nothende. Near the Bassline will be Hip Hop in the Park, where DJ Dimplez, Skwatta Kamp and Teargas are some of the acts.
