I see that the Christian Democratic Party has taken umbrage with the DA Student Organisation’s poster of a man and woman embracing.
Your paper reported that the CDP believes that the poster promotes sexual immorality, especially among the undead (“mindless zombies”).
As a result, I imagined that the couple pictured would have been clearly unmarried and engaged in some obvious carnal act.
I now have had time to view the poster, and it does not involve any graphic nudity or obvious licentious lust; it is simply a man and woman embracing tenderly.
A representation of a tender embrace even with amorous intent between a married couple would not be offensive to any Christian, and could even be seen as presenting an appropriate role model for engaging in such sexualised behaviour.
Therefore, I can only presume that the CDP has been able to ascertain that the couple in the poster specifically represents an unmarried couple whose embrace therefore promotes and encourages sexual transgression.
I am unable to ascertain how the CDP can be sure that the couple pictured in the poster are supposed to represent a promiscuous unmarried couple rather than loving married partners? Is it possible that your paper could discover by what criteria the CDP has been able to identify the marital status of the couple, and so reach its damning conclusion of the poster’s probable impact on the sexual mores of the undead of SA?
