The more they had drunk, the more attractive they thought they were, the Journal of Individual Differences reports.
In a second experiment, young men were told they were taking part in a taste test for a new drink. Some were given a non-alcoholic version and told it was alcoholic.
When asked to rate their own attractiveness, those who thought they had consumed alcohol rated themselves more highly, even if they had been given a soft drink.
