A man is fighting for life in hospital while under police guard for stabbing to death his blood brother with a knife over a beer.
Eyewitnesses told The Star Africa that the brothers, aged 63 and 58, had been drinking at a tavern at a certain home in Burlington Village near Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, yesterday. A heated argument broke out between them.
Nyakwave Khoza said: “One of the brothers snatched and drank the other’s beer. He got angry and both produced knives and started charging at each other inside the tavern.
“(The 58 year old) stabbed the older brother once, and he collapsed on the floor. He died in the tavern entrance.”
Mpumalanga police spokesman Sergeant Gerald Sedibe said: “The suspect (58) is critical in hospital, but under police guard.
“He stabbed his brother to death.
“The man will appear in the Mhala magistrate’s court on a charge of murder after (his release) from hospital.”
