This week, Kim Kardashian finally acknowledged that her sex tape was the reason she had leapt to fame.

Speaking to talkshow host Oprah Winfrey, the reality television star admitted that the release of the X-rated film with ex-boyfriend Ray J had “humiliated” her family.

However, in an extraordinary development, her estranged husband Kris Humphries is said to have claimed that her mother, Kris Jenner, conceived the idea of a tape in the first place.

Humphries’s ex-girlfriend, Myla Sinanaj, claims he told her many details about the reality TV star during their short-lived relationship earlier this year.

According to celebrity gossip website TMZ, Humphries told Sinanaj that Jenner had not only told her daughter to make a sex tape, but also to refilm the original because it had not been “pretty enough”.

Kardashian initially sued Vivid Entertainment for ownership of the tape, but later settled for a reported $5 million (R41m).

Eight months after the tape's release, Kardashian and her family were given the opportunity to star in their own reality TV show, Keeping up with the Kardashians.

However, a source from the Kardashian camp told TMZ that Kardashian had never discussed the tape with Humphries during their short relationship because she did not want to be judged by it.

Sinanaj is threatening to release details of her relationship with Brooklyn Nets player Humphries after becoming infuriated with him following their break-up.

The hotel worker has apparently become furious after having tried to contact Humphries 17 times by phone, to no avail.

Sources told TMZ that Sinanaj had numerous SMSes from Humphries in which he declared she was the “love of his life” and said he couldn’t wait to be divorced.

Kardashian has subpoenaed Sinanaj in her divorce case against Humphries, because she believes their relationship contradicts his self-depiction as a heart- broken husband.

While the reality TV star wants to divorce Humphries as soon as possible, he would like their marriage to be annulled.

In court papers, Humphries claims he was left devastated by Kardashian’s sudden decision to end their marriage after just 72 days. Sinanaj’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, told RadarOnline.com: “My client isn’t going to rule anything out at this point, including whether or not she would be willing to assist Kim Kardashian in her divorce case.”

Sinanaj’s team also hit out at claims that she was never Humphries’ partner. Her legal representative said: “I have hundreds of text messages and phone records which show he constantly contacted her on a steady basis. He’d call her 50 times in a day.”

Speaking to Oprah, Kardashian denied claims the wedding was a publicity stunt to boost ratings, but conceded she had not got to know him properly before they tied the knot.

She said: “I think when people first meet, everything is great in the beginning, but I didn’t spend more than a whole week with my ex before we married.

“When we moved in together, I saw how our relationship was… I don’t want to get into the small things, but once we moved in, I knew he was not the one

“He’s a good person. I will always have a place in my heart for him. It just wasn’t for me.

“For anyone I hurt, I’m truly sorry. I don’t wish pain on anyone, but the person I am because of that crazy experience – I wouldn’t change it for the world.

“I loved him – obviously it hurt him, and it hurt me too. It was embarrassing. I don’t want to call it a mistake; it was a lesson.” – Daily Mail
