Let’s look for change now in Johannesburg

Comment on this story

It was with great concern that I read of the plans, by the ANC and some of its partners, to make both the Western Cape and the metro of Cape Town ungovernable. This flies in the face of civilised convention as both bodies were duly elected by the people of that province.

Both provincial and municipal elections were signed off by the IEC as being free and fair.

The bully-boy tactics of the ANC and its fellow travellers must be opposed in the strongest terms. This surely is a slide towards the Zanu-fication of the ruling party. One could only imagine the huge outcry if Helen Zille had threatened to do so in Johannesburg and Gauteng.

On the other hand, the ANC has done a good job at making both bodies dysfunctional.

I wait for Jacob Zuma to publicly distance himself and his party from such pronouncements. I won’t hold my breath.

The time for change is now and with the general election of 2014, you, the voters of Gauteng, can deliver the province to the DA. You owe it to the future of this great land.
