THE man who was accused of raping two girls aged five did not appear in court over the second rape yesterday as expected.
The 27-year-old was still in police custody following his arrest a week ago.
The suspect was arrested immediately after the incident for allegedly raping a five- year-old girl from Mmamatsha village in the Ga-Molepo area, outside Polokwane.
On Monday night, five days after the first rape, another case of rape was opened against the same man.
The other alleged five-year-old rape victim is a Grade R classmate of the other girl. They were allegedly raped on their way from school.
The suspect did not appear in court yesterday as expected.
Mankweng police spokesman Constable Moses Molepo said: “The suspect will appear in court soon.
“The investigating officer visited the complainant (on Tuesday), and once we have enough evidence, we will then take (the suspect) to court and formally charge him.” – Moloko Moloto
