l April 2012: A woman who went to the Moot police station for protection was fatally shot in the charge office by her ex-boyfriend, Constable Vutivi Mabunda, a policeman at the same station, who then turned the firearm on himself. Tsholanang Kgaladi, 23, had wanted one of his colleagues to accompany her to his flat to collect her clothes.
l August 2011: David Kekana, a clerk at Rosebank police station, shot dead Captain Neelavathi “Cookie” Naidu before going to the next office and shooting station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Thandi Mkhize 14 times. Kekana later committed suicide. Mkhize survived the shooting.
l October 2007: Inspector Thandokuhle Ngubane was strangled with pieces of a blanket by Krishan Naidoo and Aboobiker Jawaad Aboobiker at the Randburg police cells.
l May 2002: Thabang Khumalo allegedly shot dead Diepkloof police station commissioner Senior Superintendent Elias Shonisani Mashau during his escape from custody. He also reportedly tried to kill Inspector Sisa Raynell Ngqula and inmate Mpumelelo Khumalo.
