Needed: 12 billboards displayed around our province to remind us that we’ve all got a “can-do” attitude.
And in order to get this sorted, the Gauteng Office of the Premier is looking to recruit someone to run “creative development” and outdoor ads to encourage us all to learn about Gauteng’s brand: “Brand Gauteng – It starts here!”.
A provincial government “perception survey” in January last year found that Gauteng residents have forgotten the brand logo.
“There is only 40 percent awareness of the brand and only 34 percent understanding of it”, according to a Premier’s Office tender document.
As that was more than a year ago, the figures are probably now even lower.
“Although this is low, it is also attributed to the heightened and aggressive campaign during the 2010 Fifa World Cup,” says the tender.
“Since July 2010 there has been no advertising, and residents of Gauteng have not been exposed to the brand,” it states.
So the Premier’s Office wants to “create a compelling brand that resonates with residents, investors, tourists and business” to “create stakeholder harmony”.
This will be done by running adverts on 12 billboards across Gauteng.
Bidders must “ensure that the creatives are unique and relevant for each region”.
