FOR SOME, it takes years of convincing before they join Twitter.
But for the recently announced and very unborn foetus of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge’s child, that won’t be an issue.
Within hours of the royal couple confirming that Kate was pregnant after being admitted to hospital for acute morning sickness, parody accounts for The Royal Baby were already being born.
Reigning over the lot is @RoyalFetus, with nearly 9 000 followers by yesterday afternoon and the biography, “I live inside a princess”.
With all the grace and dignity that royal blood endows, the account has been tweeting since Will and Kate’s celebrity wedding last year, saying: “Coming soon, literally.”
The Queen’s English version of the account, @RoyalFoetus, upped the tone with some third-person tweets that would make great-granny proud: “In 9 months’ time, all one asks is that you swallow your wonderment and avert your gaze.”
Playing to the part, @HRHbaby only kicks, waves and cries.
And @Royal_Fetus said: “Buying Dad some condoms for Christmas. Damned if I’m going to share the inheritance.”
For those who feel that the spawning parodies are a tasteless indictment of celebrity worship, @UnbornRoyal has a response.
“Follow me. You have no choice. I am the perfect vessel for meaningless fame, feeding off society’s twin obsessions: cuteness and raw power.” – Kristen van Schie
