GRAMMY award-w4inning R&B artist Usher is in the country ahead of his much-anticipated concert at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday.

“First night in Johannesburg. This city is beautiful,” the American singer – who will be supported, among others, by local musicians Gang of Instrumentals, Liquideep, Teargas, Zakes Bantwini, Oskido, L-Tido and DJ Tira – tweeted on his arrival.

Preparations at the stadium are almost finished, with the stage and lighting currently being set up.

According to promoters Big Concerts, 20 truckloads of equipment has already made its way to the venue, including the latest in concert audio, pushing out a possible 100 000 watts of sounds, 25 generators, and 320 stage lights for the 2 100m2 stage.

Hansa’s Legends in the Making Mo and the Dark Knights from Gauteng, Busi M from the Western Cape, Shoelace from the Eastern Cape, Mapak’shop from Limpopo, Mo Klaassik from the Free State and Abdus from KwaZulu-Natal will also take to the stage to showcase their talents.

“Thousands of ticket holders are convinced that this is going to be an all-day, adrenalin-fuelled festival showcasing a star-studded line-up,” said Hansa Pilsener general manager Mosidi Seretlo.
