King Khan regained his position as India’s top-earning celebrity in Forbes’ list of the country’s top- earning celebrities with an estimated earning of Rs 257.5 (about R60).

Shah Rukh had lost his top rank to friend and arch-rival Salman Khan last year and slipped to third position, Forbes said in its annual India Celebrity List.

Interestingly, the list comes a day after the Bombay High Court acquitted Salman in a hit-and-run case.

Salman’s earnings, according to the list, stand at Rs 202.75 crore placing him second on the list. Amitabh Bachchan is at third position, down from his second position last year.

Forbes said the total wealth of the top 100 celebrities was Rs 2 819 crore, and cinema and cricket dominate.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been ranked fourth, followed by Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan in the top 10.

Besides the earnings estimates, the overall Celebrity 100 list also takes into account fame.

In terms of earnings alone also, 50-year-old Shah Rukh topped the list while Salman is in second position.

However, Akshay Kumar ranks higher at third position in earnings, followed by Dhoni and Bachchan at fourth and fifth places respectively.

Forbes said Shah Rukh’s earnings were the highest any celebrity has made in the four-year history of the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list. His earnings make up 9% of the total wealth of the top 100 celebrities, it said, although he still lags behind at fourth place in terms “fame” ranking where 73-year-old Bachchan reigns in the top position. – DAILY MAIL
