Chris Brown's aunt was allegedly held at gunpoint when his home was ransacked in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, three men in balaclavas and armed with firearms held the singer's relative at gunpoint and continued to steal cash from her, along with a laptop and a cellphone, before locking the terrified woman in a cupboard and fleeing the residence.

The ransacked property - which Chris recently purchased in May, around the same time that an alleged stalker was found in his Agoura Hills home - is equipped with 16 security cameras, however, it is not yet known if the robbery was caught on camera, KTLA reports.

It is also not clear whether the woman was injured during the assault on the 'Love More' singer's home.

Chris was not at home during the time of the incident as the 26-year-old singer was spotted out with friends in Hollywood and left the Argyle club at approximately 2:13am, just as the robbery was taking place not far away in the San Fernando Valley.

He later arrived back at the property and left with his aunt at around 4am.

The singer has not released a statement but the incident is being investigated by the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division, which handles crimes committed against high-profile people.

Nia Guzman, who has a 13-month-old daughter Royalty with the 26-year-old singer, is reportedly deeply concerned about his ability to protect his child after the incident.

A source close to the brunette beauty, who had a fling with the star while he was still dating Karrueche Tran, claims she believes many of Chris's friends are in gangs and the robbery suggests they have now turned on the 'Loyal' hitmaker.

The insider told gossip website TMZ.com that Nia doesn't want Royalty to be exposed to a dangerous environment and it could hurt the 'Fine China' hitmaker's attempts to secure joint custody of their little girl.

Chris' mother Joyce Hawkins also believes the terrifying ordeal was an inside job.

Shortly after the news broke that three armed men in balaclavas stole money, a laptop and cellphone from his property before locking his aunt in a cupboard, Joyce tweeted: "Watch who you standing beside."
