London - Adrienne Bailon insists she never wanted to be famous for being "someone's girlfriend".

The former 'Cheetah Girls' star caused a stir earlier this week, after she claimed dating Rob Kardashian hurt her career and she has now defended herself after her remarks were slammed by his sisters Kim and Khloe.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, she wrote: "Fame and a Career are two different things. I've always had a career. I've been working hard since I was 15 years old. Being someone's "girlfriend" was never what I wanted to be famous for. "

In a direct comment to Kim, she added: "What makes you "famous" isn't always what you want to be "labelled" as, or known for. If anyone should understand that... It should be you."

The 30-year-old singer also defended her comments regarding her ex-boyfriend Rob, who she dated from 2007 to 2009, insisting she didn't regret their relationship.

She added: "I also stated in the article that none of this would have stopped me from being that relationship. I just would have gone about it differently. You can love someone just as much in private. We all learn from our first loves."

Following the publication of Adrienne's interview in Latina magazine, Kim blasted her for "kicking her brother when he is down".

She also tweeted: "Funny how she says being with a Kardashian hurt her career yet the only reason she has this article is bc she is talking about a Kardashian (sic)"

Her sister Khloe Kardashian also joined in later tweeting: "thought her and I were cool SMH (sic)" - BANG Showbiz
