President Barack Obama speaks at his ceremonial swearing-in at the US Capitol during the 57th Presidential Inauguration in Washington on Monday.

London - Celebrities including Khloe Kardashian and Olivia Wilde have taken to Twitter to congratulate President Barack Obama on his inauguration.

The US president was sworn in for his second term in office in Washingto D.C. on Monday and stars who attended and those who watched at home were full of praise for Obama.

Khloe tweeted: “Been up early watching the Inauguration #MLK #PresidentObama (sic)”, while Olivia added: “I sincerely hope it was Mimosa Monday at the WH today. I would be s****ing myself anyway, but still, a bubbly beta blocker is in order.”

Kelly Clarkson, who performed at the event, joking thanked the president for “opening” for her.

She tweeted: “Wow... I was incredibly nervous and cold ha! I just wanna officially thank President Obama for opening for me haha! Just kidding :) (sic)”

Kelly Rowland wrote: “The First Family look amazing! #History #Inauguration2013 (sic)” while Mandy Moore added: “Happy MLK Day and Inauguration Day! Can’t imagine the energy in DC… I’m excited just watching the festivities on TV. #oneforthebooks (sic).”

However, one celebrity who was left disappointed was The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder, who lost his prized ticket to the celebrations.

He tweeted: “Ahh! Who lost his ticket w/ great seats to the Presidential Inauguration while grabbing food? THIS GUY! WTF?! BUMMMMER…”

“Breakfast alone in DC sans inauguration ticket. Time to get caught up on emails and tweets i guess-Meetings later to prepare for (sic).”

Fortunately, Ian was able to catch the speech on TV, writing: “Time to get some major major stuff done Mr President. Enjoy a day off sir, there will not be many more for 4 years!” - Bang Showbiz
