Things turned ugly at the Thursday night launch of Kenny Kunene’s reality show ‘So What’ when comedian Loyiso Gola attacked him from the podium.
During the e.tv launch of Kunene’s show and two other reality programmes at Chaf Pozi bar in Soweto, an apparently irate Gola picked up the mic and blasted the sushi king.
“How can you f****n’ come here revving your Lamborghinis while outside here people are starving; you speak about women like that while there is Aids out there killing people,” screamed Gola.
“You know what, f**k you, Kenny, and this show. This is bulls**t, how are kids going to find inspiration from such a bulls**t show?”
Gola’s foul-mouthed tirade came after Kunene had boasted about his millionaire lifestyle and his plans for the show.
“This show is going to be the life of entertainment, not as boring as the Kardashians. It will speak to South Africans; we don’t want shows like Kardashians that are fake and boring,” said Kunene.
“It will mentor young people to work hard, adults to not hate our success and teach young girls to know that us rich men will throw money at them and dump them,” he added, before spraying the crowd with a bottle of Moet et Chandon,
When asked by City Press for a reaction to Gola’s slur, Kunene maintained that he was out of earshot when Gola went ballistic.
“I’m not worried about Loyiso, I’ll deal with him in my own time. I do a lot for people, what has he done himself for people?” said Kunene.
