Swaggering along the catwalk, Kate Moss puffs on a cigarette to the cheers of the fashionable crowd.

But their whoops of approval ring hollow in the real world where her performance sends a dangerous message to the impressionable young girls who idolise her style.

A close look at her modelling for Louis Vuitton in Paris, however, might just help them change their minds.

Hair scraped back harshly and in an unforgiving pair of black hotpants, Miss Moss looked every one of her 37 years, and perhaps more.

She returned to the catwalk for the first time in three years as the star of the Vuitton show, which was designed by close friend Marc Jacobs.

And although she received a rapturous reception, campaigners marking No Smoking Day in Britain were not impressed.

This is an attention-seeking stunt and Kate Moss appears not to care what impact her smoking has on young girls, said a spokesman from ASH, the anti-smoking charity.

Bizarrely, Miss Moss, a mother of one, is said to be trying to give up smoking in a bid to have another baby and had even been having hypnosis to kick the habit.

Puffing away is certainly doing her no favours. Afterwards, she left the show looking less than glamorous with her fiancé Jamie Hince. Many Mail Online readers were appalled at her smoking in the show. One summed it up thus: I bet Kate’s lungs don’t look pretty . - Daily Mail
