Mel B wants to be an Australian citizen.

The 36-year-old former Spice Girl – who worked as a judge on the Australian ‘X Factor’ before landing a hosting slot on the country’s version of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ – has moved to Sydney and wants to become a full-time Aussie.

She said: "I would love to become an Australian citizen. I am going to be here for quite some time, or as long as you want me anyway."

Mel spent the last 18 months travelling between Los Angeles, Australia and her native England before finally deciding to settle Down Under, and has already signed with local label EMI.

The Jenny Craig spokesperson – who recently lost 33lbs on the diet plan – has moved husband Stephen Belafonte and kids Phoenix, 13, Angel, four, and seven-month-old Madison, into a rented home in the city’s eastern suburbs while they look for a more permanent base, and enrolled Phoenix has at a Sydney school.

She told Australia’s Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I've set up shop here. We are all really happy and settled. Hopefully you are going to want me here for a long time."
