Kristen Stewart says she is always self-deprecating because she is used to receiving a “kick in the ass” from other people.

The 24-year-old actress said: “I’ve taken so much s**t that I’m just like, ‘I’m not the winner’. I’m not gonna be let down when I don’t get the pat on the back. I’m totally used to the kick in the ass.”

The Twilight Saga actress also insists she has never been interested in winning awards and her dreams have always involved her career progression. She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’ve never been like, ‘One day, I’m gonna win an Oscar’. My ‘one day’ was, ‘I’m gonna be a director. I’m gonna direct movies’.”

However, Kristen admits she was overjoyed to be the first American actress to pick up a César Award – France’s Oscars equivalent – for her performance in Clouds of Sils Maria.

“Oh, man, it blew my head off, to be honest. I couldn’t believe that they gave it to me, because those people rigidly dole out praise, especially to Americans. It felt really good.”
