London - Liz Hurley and Shane Warne have called off their engagement for the second time.

The 48-year-old star and the retired cricketer got back together after the brunette beauty called time on their engagement in September - two years after he popped the question - but it now appears the couple have called it quits for good.

A source told HELLO! magazine: "It is very sad and they tried to make it work but there were just too many issues in the way.

"Elizabeth is taking it one day at a time. She will always be extremely fond of Shane."

Rumours stemmed from a mystery tweet Shane, 44, posted online. He wrote: "The past should be the past & stay there. It destroys the future. [sic]

"Live life for what tomorrow has to offer, not for what happened yesterday."

The actress gave the former sports star a second chance after reportedly finding intimate text messages on his mobile phone while packing for a trip to his native Australia.

The 'Austin Powers' star was said to be "deeply upset" following their split in September, which was initially blamed on their busy schedules and long periods apart.

A source said at the time: "Elizabeth is deeply upset about recent events and is hibernating socially for a while, only seeing her old and trusted friends." - Bang Showbiz
