Johannesburg - A video showing the after math of the crash that left comedian Tracy Morgan critically injured and one of his friends dead, has been released.
The footage, obtained by gossip site TMZ, was taken by a driver passing the scene of the accident in New Jersey. It shows a group of people gathering around the overturned Mercedes Sprinter in which Morgan and his friends were driving after a gig.
The footage also captures someone saying “Oh my God” and “Help him God” as an unconscious man in a dark shirt and jeans is pulled from the wreckage. Many have already speculated that it was Morgan being pulled out of the car, but there has been no confirmation of that as yet.
According to the Daily Mail, Morgan remains in critical condition at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital with a broken leg, femur, nose and several ribs. His publicist Lewis Kay said yesterday that the star was more responsive, but was likely to remain in hospital for several weeks. He also dismissed rumours claiming that Morgan had injured his leg so severely, it would have to be amputated.
“The concern for his well-being has been overwhelming, but Megan [Morgan's fiancee] is respectfully asking that the media await official word through these channels before speculating (mostly inaccurately) on his condition,” Kay said.
Meanwhile, the truck driver responsible for the crash has appeared in court to face charges of death by auto and vehicular assault.
According to the prosecution, driver Kevin Roper hadn’t slept in more than 24 hours when he crashed his truck into the limo carrying Morgan.
Today, it was revealed that Roper wrote a message on the biography section of a Twitter account alleged to be his before the accident, eerily foreshadowing what was to transpire.
“Trying to win more than lose! Driving trucks for a living it's my road move or get hit (sic) #Walmart.” - Tonight Reporter
