No sooner do we learn that Sir Michael Caine’s daughter, Natasha, has been so terrified by a debt collector that her hair turned white, than Michael himself has had a rather scary turn, too.
Usually sure-footed, the 79-year-old, who co-stars as the butler in new Batman film The Dark Knight Rises, fell into a Manhattan pothole while strolling along Lexington Avenue last week.
As a result, he had to have stitches and was unable to attend the premieres of the film in both London and New York.
His slip happened just before his son-in-law Michael Hall lost a High Court action for damages against the ex-con debt collector whom he claimed had ‘menaced’ him. And what of Caine? Says long-time pal Michael Winner: ‘He is absolutely fine now. I spoke to his wife, Shakira, on the phone.
‘He hurt his foot but he is back in Britain now and we’re having lunch next week.’
Always in demand, Caine has two films out later this year and is the executive producer on a third. - Daily Mail
