Harshaali Malhotra’s innocence wooed everyone who watched Bajrangi Bhaijaan, in which she plays a mute Pakistani girl. Oneindia.in’s PURI takes a look at some facts about the child star.
Talking about his 6-year-old co-star, Salman Khan said: “I absolutely loved every moment of working with her. She’s such a beautiful girl. What she does on-screen and off-screen to people is unbelievable. She is the most gorgeous, most beautiful child I have ever, ever met.”
Cast member Kareena Kapoor also spoke about her experience of working with little Malhotra: “Harshaali was the biggest star on set. When we were shooting scenes with her, we had to ensure she was comfortable. And, she was in the right mood. After all, she is just 6 and the entire unit wanted to ensure that she was always looked after and in the right state of mind.”
Here are a few more facts about Malhotra:
1. Harshaali Malhotra used to cry when seeing Salman doing action scenes. She says: “I used to cry when he (Salman) did action scenes. Even when Salman uncle shot emotional scenes, I used to feel bad. I cried when Salman uncle cried.’’
2. Harshaali initially felt shy talking to Salman. During the promotions of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, her mother, Kajal Malhotra, said her daughter was initially coy: “Then Khan and Harshaali were left alone for some time and they got along well. Salman loves her a lot. We are happy that she got this big.”
3. Malhotra used to play games on Salman’s cellphone on the set of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Khan also used to play table tennis with the child actress.
4. Malhotra used to take a break of two to three hours between shoots. According to a report, the entire cast and crew waited almost six hours for her.
5. After auditioning 1 000 girls for Bajrangi Bhaijaan, director Kabir Khan finally found his Munni in Harshaali.
6. Harshaali did not attend any promotional activities before the release of the film as Salman and Kabir wanted to maintain some secrecy around her character.
7. Harshaali completed her scenes and shoots for Bajrangi Bhaijaan during her school holidays.
8. The actress studies at Mumbai’s Seven Square Academy school.
9. Harshaali did many advertisements before her big Bollywood debut. She was featured in adverts like Pears, Fair & Lovely, Hyundai motors, Apollo Tyres, HDFC Bank and Horlicks.
10. Harshaali had a very good rapport with Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s director, Kabir. Whenever she did not understand anything in a scene, she would directly ask him about it.
