Maxwell gave a moving tribute to the late Nelson Mandela during his Joburg show on Saturday, after dedicating his SA shows to the beloved political icon.

The singer shed a few tears while facing the screen as images of the icon were beamed to an appreciative audience during a clip that featured sound bites of a few memorable Mandela quotes.

After his concert at the Coca-Cola Dome, the Grammy winning singer posted pictures of the portion of of his show in which he honoured Madiba. 

On his Twitter page, a caption to one of the pictures read: "madiba you were the center of the evening in our show in johannesburg to be here in your world was like a universe in a moment" #satour2013 #allkind."

Fans expressed their gratitude for the singer’s touching gesture.

“Incredible tribute, you truly feel our loss. Best night of my life.. Ngiyabonga..” wrote chadzk.

“Very nice work @maxwell and @brandonmcarter. The tribute was one like I've never seen nor heard. It was incredible to witness,” added dtodd.

“You are our generation's Marvin Gaye!" wrote ajaneta.

“Thank you for honoring our father, our president. Thank you Sir (sic),” added kkeketso. - IOL
