NOT TO be confused with the ’80s Dudley Moore movie – which also was a rom-com about a guy who becomes obsessed with a girl he meets, Lovesick stars Matt LeBlanc.

The rom-com is about well-liked school principal Charlie Darby (LeBlanc, pictured) who has a great life. But, the one thing he doesn’t have is love because any time he falls for a girl, he becomes obsessive and paranoid.

When he meets the perfect girl, substitute teacher Molly Kingston (Ali Larter), he realises something needs to change and enlists his friend Jason (Adam Rodriguez) and porn-loving neighbour Lester (Chevy Chase) to help him find a way to overcome his psychosis and find true love.

The film is directed by Luke Matheny (who won an Oscar for his short film God of Love). It is rated 13L and has a running time of 85 minutes.

Lovesick had a limited release in February in the US and goes to dvd in May, while it gets a limited theatrical release in South Africa courtesy of Crystal Brook Distribution.

The few online reviews that do exist lean more towards rotten than fresh, so if you like your rom-coms blandly predictable, there is a market for this. – Senior Film Writer
