MET Music director, James Levine, made his first appearance at the Metropolitan Opera’s opening night in four years, conducting Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.

Screened as part of The Met: Live in HD, this is the second opera on film at Cinema Nouveau.

The screened production, which features four lengthy acts, is three hours and 52 minutes long with one intermission.

British director Richard Eyre set the action in a 19th-century manor house in Seville, but did so on a revolving stage.

Bass-baritone Ildar Abrazakov (pictured) leads the cast in the title role of the clever servant, opposite Marli Petersen as his bride, Susanna. Swedish baritone Peter Mattei is the philandering Count they work for, while Amanda Majeski is the Countess and mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard tackles the pageboy Cherubino role.

The comic opera continues the plot of The Barber of Seville, which is to be seen here next month. – Tonight Reporter
