The awaited film ABCD (Any Body Can Dance), which promises to include a tribute to the late superstar Michael Jackson, releases on Friday. OneIndia.in reports on the movie and dance master and film practitioner Prabhu Deva’s involvement…

ACTOR and director Prabhu Deva, who is often likened to Michael Jackson for his dance moves, is set to pay tribute to the late King of Pop in a song in the forthcoming film ABCD (Any Body Can Dance).

The 3D film, directed by choreographer-turned-director Remo D’Souza, stars dance reality show winners such as Salman Khan, Dharmesh, Prince, Mayuresh and Vrushali. It will also see ace choreographer Ganesh Acharya play a pivotal role.

D’Souza is a big fan of Jackson and said his film would definitely have a feature on him: “Yes, it is true that we have thought about this. We want to execute it in one of our songs, where Prabhu features with me. Everyone knows how deeply I respect Michael Jackson and when I am doing a film on dancing, it is impossible to not have something on him.”

Deva will also dance with Madhuri Dixit for a song which was shot in multiple locations across Mumbai. The song captures the essence of the city’s spirit.

Lauren Gottlieb, the winner of the US TV talent show So You Think You Can Dance, will also be part of the film. This “Hinglish” song will be a high-energy dance number and have freestyle moves choreographed by Remo.

Deva saysABCD is a dance film that D’Souza has worked very hard for. He also praised D’Souza’s dance skills: “I must say, Remo has worked 25 out of 24 hours. He has worked very hard.”

D’Souza, who plays a key role along with Ganesh Acharya in the movie, said: “ABCD is an out-and-out dance film. I also dance in the film. I must tell you, you will see better dancers than me in this film. It was very tough for me to match their steps.”

According to ABCD’s plot, for Vishnu (Prabhu Dheva), widely regarded as India’s best dancer, dance is more than a passion – it’s the reason he lives. So when he is thrown out of the Swish Dance Academy he himself set up, at the hand of his manipulative business partner, it feels as if the oxygen has been sucked out of the air he breathes.

Heartbroken, Vishnu decides to give up dance and leave Mumbai for ever. However, the night before his departure he witnesses a most amazing sight – a group of dancers preparing for the forthcoming Ganpati Dance Battle – an annual festival that pits Mumbai’s best dance groups against each other.

Watching the raw talent of these amazing dancers helps Vishnu come to a decision – he will take this disparate group under his wing, help them overcome their personal rivalries and turn them into India’s best dance squad.
