beyonce new album

A scene from one of the songs from Beyonce's new visual album.

New York - Beyonce released her fifth self-titled album exclusively on iTunes early on Friday.

The album features 14 songs and 17 videos. Collaborators include Jay Z, Drake and Frank Ocean. The closing track, ‘Blue’, features her daughter Blue Ivy.

Beyonce says in a statement that she “didn't want to release my music the way I've done it.” She says she wanted the album to come out when it was ready, from her to her fans.

And the Bey Hive, as her fans call themselves, were not dissapointed and were in a frenzy on YouTube, with more than one loyal subject declaring the short video previews were simply "perfect".

The sultry 'Rocket' was reminiscent of the smooth neo-soul sounds of D'Angelo for many viewers.

'Yoncé' also got Queen Bey's followers excited, with cameos by a few models-of-the-moment.

"Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman! Beyonce is making history!" wrote Ali D.

The brash 'Grown Woman' features Beyonce's mother, Tina, and had a bold video to match, with lolatana saying the video reminded her of Rihanna's raunchy song 'Rudeboy'.
