The Essential Kirk Franklin

Kirk Franklin

****

Summing it up.

Kirk Franklin has always been the guy you weren’t sure your pastor would mind you listening to. From the outset his dress sense, sound and presentation was far outside the church.

But when the man remained consistent through the years, people listened.

This album is basically a resumé of what made Franklin the man he is today. The two-disc compilation is a collection of his best works.

On one side you get hits such as Imagine Me and The Storm is Over, which sounds nothing like R Kelly’s song of the same name. The Stevie Wonder-featured Why? is a moral wake-up call on all things that need improving in our lives.

If you enjoy his live delivery, seven tracks, including Hosanna, Conquerors and Silver and Gold, should quench your thirst.

The legendary female gospel singer Yolanda Adams comes in on the mellow Afterwhile, reminding you why we love Franklin. Hello Fear seals the deal.

In case you’ve never owned a Franklin CD, this is the one to get. – Munyaradzi Vomo.
