In 2011, Teargas, Liquideep and Hip Hop Pantsula – in conjunction with Hansa – told their fans that they were born for this. This year, Hansa recruited a different set of musicians to encourage fans to just dream. The result is an infectious ditty called Just Dream (surprise, surprise) which was produced by hit-making party starter Zakes Bantwini. The house maverick can be heard on the song alongside Durban kwaito star Mampintsha (of Big Nuz) and hip hop artist KO. Naturally, there is a video to be shot. But for this project, the adult beverage wants music lovers to be involved.

In a music video that will premiere at the Hansa Festival Of Legends next year, the three established musos will appear with their fans. In what is being dubbed “15 Seconds Of Fame” fans are asked to film themselves performing Just Dream and upload their clips to the Hansa site. The person who uploads the best clip will be chosen to star in the music video alongside three of South Africa’s biggest music stars. KO, who is one third of boundary-breaking hip hop group Teargas, said, “Hansa wanted something inspirational and we had to find the different ways of bringing that across.”

Having featured in last year’s Hansa initiative that saw Teargas, HHP and Liquideep collaborating on a song called Born For This, KO is no stranger to this part of the game. “This year Hansa were trying to do the same thing,” he says, but he adds, “but they wanted three individuals from three different music genres. So on the first day I brainstormed with Zakes, but he did the bulk of the music while I contributed too. Mampintsha came in the next day.”

What came out is a motiva-tional track that’s already doing the rounds on the radio. When it comes to creating the actual music video, KO (whose group has offered some pretty cool videos) says, “I’d like Hansa to give me the job and allow me to execute it. I’ve been involved in the concepts of most of the Teargas videos.

“I know there will be a production company to handle that side of things, but I’d love to contribute to this one and also see what my ability is above Teargas.”

First up, though, they have to find the lucky fan who will star in the video with them.
