She stepped right into it at the MTV music awards
JUST days after announcing her relationship with Cassper Nyovest, Boity Thulo has managed to get on the wrong side of AKA’s fans.
The presenter and actress surprised viewers of the MTV Africa Music Awards on Saturday evening, when she stepped right into the beef that has been ongoing between the two. When she went up to present the Best Collaboration award in the packed Durban International Convention Centre, she asked the crowd to shout out who the winner was before reading from the envelope.
The crowd then began to shout the name of AKA, who was one of the nominees, but Thulo shouted gleefully in response: “Cassper wins everything anyway.” This was even though her beau wasn’t even nominated in the category.
She then announced AKA as the winner in a lacklustre tone and moved away from him when he came onstage to collect the award along with his collaborators Burna Boy and Da LES.
To further escalate things, AKA then asked for his posse to follow him to another part of the stage where he could give his acceptance speech.
Although many on social media expected AKA to rant about the proceedings on Twitter as he usually does, the new father simply sent Boity a laughing emoticon which was retweeted a thousand times and favourited more than 500 times.
Twitter users were not quite so kind to Thulo.
@thobekasne9 said: “@Boity love you but what you done was unproffesional on stage … Its not always about you and your cassper doll!”
Her sentiments were shared by @Doroworldwide who tweeted: “That moment AKA told his squad to move over to the main stage he actually meant to say “Guys let move away from this Childish Bishh Boity. (sic)”
Some even compared her to AKA’s girlfriend DJ Zinhle who keeps her life private.
@iamLeoTiso tweeted: “Thanks @akaworldwide for being the bigger person at the #MTVMAMA2015, #boity was being childish, she needs to learn from @DJZinhle.”
