GIG OF THE WEEK

Anthony hamilton

Wavehouse (Sunday)

CELEBRATIONS to honour women continue throughout the month and as part of the rejoicing, Durban is fortunate to welcome this weekend the Grammy Award winner, R&B crooner Anthony Hamilton, who is gracing us with his presence for a second time.

The songwriter, record producer and actor will perform |at the Wavehouse on Sunday.

Hamilton scored a platinum debut with Coming From Where I’m From in 2003, featuring the chart-topping hit Charlene.

“Having children,” says the father of six, including year-old twins, “gives you another burst of energy, a new perspective.”

Back to Love, his fourth album, contains the smash hits Woo and Pray For Me, and showcases Hamilton’s distinctive, multi-faceted voice.

“There are different tones in my voice people have fallen in love with; I can go hard or real soft,” says the singer. “I pay attention to that.”

White Star and Afropulse Entertainment are not only excited about bringing Hamilton to South Africa, but say: “The timing is perfect – he has just released his new album Back to Love which is doing extremely well not only overseas, but locally, too. Anthony Hamilton is loved by South African audiences, males and females, young and old, and different races, too. And lastly; he will be cele-|brating Women’s Month with us in South Africa.”

• Catch Anthony Hamilton on Sunday at the Wavehouse, Gateway Theatre of Shopping. Tickets: R450 at Computicket. – Tonight Reporter
