GIG OF THE WEEK

Connell Cruise

The Barnyard (tomorrow)

The Crescendo Live Music Benefit

Westville Boys’ High School (Sunday)

FOR the first time, Connell Cruise will perform his South African tour, Into the Wild, with his last show taking place in Durban at The Barnyard tomorrow.

In an interview with Tonight, Cruise says more than anything, he’s excited to have his show on the road: “It’s been something I’ve wanted to do since my music first played on South African radio. The shows have been going great so far, sold out in Joburg and Pretoria.”

Having gone global with the release of Into the Wild, the musician says the response has been really good. So what’s in store for audiences at his gig tomorrow?

“The show is packed with all the hits from my first album and new music from my upcoming international release. This will be the first time some of those songs will be played live. Above all, it’s a show for the fans. This is my chance to say ‘thank you’, and to sing my heart out for them.”

Durbanites also have The Crescendo Concert at the Roy Couzens Auditorium in Westville Boy’s High School to look forward to. Taking place on Sunday, the show’s aim is to raise funds for local drummer, Seth Parkin, to continue his studies. There will be music by Carnage Carnival, Cartel Collective, Salty Dog, Ross Tapson, Sarah, Will Wallace, John Chamier and Andy Turrell. – Valencia Govindasamy
