Durban sure does have talent and kasi rapper Zakwe is proof of that. In fact, he’s not just a rapper, but also a leader and actor in the making.

Fans of this talented musician will be glad to know that he will perform tomorrow at Czar on Florida Road.

Joining Zakwe wll be some of the best artists in house music: Vetkuk vs Mahoota with DJs Ntukza, Vumar, King Sfiso, TP, Mzokoloko and Le Soul and entertaining the hip hop crowd will be Kenzhero with DJs Lab, Junior De Rocka and Feel Da Musiq. Also, fans can expect a live broadcast by Gagasi FM’s After Dark DJ, Zanda.

Born in the Durban township of KwaMashu, Ntokozo Zakwe first discovered rapping and hip hop when he was in school. It was in the late 1980s that the rapper made a mark with his strong voice, great lyrics, kasi stories and black consciousness.

Before releasing his debut album in 2011, Zakwe released a number of mixtapes titled Street Music. The mix-tapes made a huge impact in the underground scene as two of his tracks were entered into the Hype Sessions and received lots of airplay.

Having worked hard in 2010, promoting his mixtape and featuring on Zuluboy’s album iGoda, he also performed at the 2011 MetroFM Music Awards in Mpumalanga and received five nods for the 18th Annual MTN SA Music Awards for his debut album Zakwe. – Tonight Reporter
