GIG OF THE WEEK

MiCasa at Music at the Lake

Botanic Gardens, Durban (Sunday)

WHAT better way to unwind than by enjoying an afternoon of great music at the Durban Botanic Gardens? Well, you can do just that when Mi Casa treat Durbanites to a relaxing afternoon of warm house beats on Sunday.

Comprised of Dr Duda, J’Something and Mo-T, MiCasa have won five South African Music Awards, two You Spectacular Awards and are two-time winners of the Sunday Times Generation Next and Double Platinum Sales awards.

According to the band’s Facebook page, their producer,

Dr Duda, has been in the industry for more than 15 years, producing and DJ-ing alongside the likes of DJ Fresh, DJ Mandla, DJ Mbuso and making hit tracks featuring talented vocalists such as RJ Benjamin, J-Something and Zodwa, among many others.

As a skilled songwriter, vocalist and guitarist, J-Something began reading music at the age of 11 and this is when he first started playing the guitar. He has also worked with many producers in the past including international artists.

As for the band’s trumpeter,

Mo-T comes from a musically rooted family and this is when the music bug bit him. His father, who played the trumpet for Mango Groove, taught him to play the instrument at a young age and he has never looked back.
