Western Cape musician Elvis Blue just loves being on the road.
So much so that in the past year, the 32-year-old musician from George has performed more than 200 live concerts around the country.
Blue says it’s important to perform in the home towns of each and every one of his fans, as they are the ones who made him what he is today.
“I have always felt that the best way to thank those who support you is to make sure you get to their town to perform live,” he said.
Now the 2010 Idols winner is on the road again, hoping to bring some Christmas cheer to his fans.
Blue began his countrywide tour last weekend at Sun City before heading off to Pretoria, where he performed on Thursday night.
Joburg fans of the platinum-selling South African musician and songwriter will get the chance to see Blue live this coming Thursday, before he comes back to the Western Cape.
Blue, who rose to fame after winning Season Six of Idols in 2010, said he was extremely excited to have begun his countrywide tour.
“After the 30 shows in 30 days tour we did in August last year, I just realised again how much fun it is to be playing a show every night.
“I hope to make some beautiful music with some great musicians while on tour.”
He was also looking forward to spending time with his fans.
“It is always a great experience to interact with supporters while I am on tour – it makes all the kilometres spent on the road just fly by.”
Earlier this year Blue released his second album Journey, which has been flying off the shelves. Album sales for his latest CD are coming close to those of his self-titled debut album, Elvis Blue, which went platinum.
His first single from Journey, titled Lifeline, was also a smash hit and is still on high rotation on radio stations nationally, along with his second single, That’s What We Do.
Blue said he would play these and many other hits for his supporters during his December tour.
He decribed the past year as a dream come true. Other than his debut album going platinum, Blue also shared a stage with international musicians including Westlife, U2 and James Blunt, and received a Sama award.
“Life has been good,” he said.
“I am fortunate to be able to do something I love, and to have many wonderful people supporting me.”
