Just when we thought Die Antwoord couldn’t get any more controversial with their videos, they’ve proved us all wrong.
This time it includes pulling a Parktown prawn from Lady Gaga’s vagina before the poor unfortunate superstar gets mauled and killed by a lion in downtown Jozi.
Their latest video, posted on YouTube on Wednesday night, features Lady Gaga dressed in her infamous meat dress on an urban safari in a taxi where lions and other wild cats are roaming the streets of downtown Joburg with humans.
The song is called Fatty Boom Boom and also features Yolandi Vi$$er as a black woman with yellow and black eyeballs and her trademark blonde zef hairstyle.
It is clearly mocking the concept that some visitors have of Africa. The taxi is then hijacked by masked men, but Lady Gaga escapes.
She finds herself in a doctor’s surgery, where the doctor, played by comedian Kagiso Lediga, examines her and pulls a Parktown prawn from her vagina. A healed Lady Gaga then leaves the surgery, only to be attacked by a lion and killed.
On YouTube, Fatty Boom Boom is described as “a bright and colourful African adventure, complete with wild animals, zef savages singing and dancing in the streets, and a special guest appearance by a sneaky little prawn star”.
At the time of publicationon Wednesday night, Fatty Boom Boom had more than 220 000 hits.
This is also not the first time that Ninja, Hi-Tek and Yolandi Vi$$er, who make up Die Antwoord, have had an incident with Lady Gaga. Recently, when she asked them to open for her, Die Antwoord refused on the basis that she was “an amateur” and they did not need her to spur their career.
The controversial crew first hit world attention when they received more than 6 million hits online for the song Enter the Ninja. The popularity of the video and the novelty of Zef culture gave them an international recording deal with Interscope. However, their relationship with the managing director, Jimmy Iovine, soured and they left the label with a slew of songs suggesting that he was, at best, a sex pest.
Die Antwoord are currently on a world tour.
