GIG OF THE WEEK

KAHN LIVE

Parker’s Comedy Club, Silverstar Casino (Thursday)

EARLIER this year Kahn Morbee, The Parlotones’ frontman, announced the pending release of his debut solo album, Salt.

And he has decided to do so without a record label. In the cut-throat music industry, it is a risky move. That said, he does have a huge following.

Now the singer has embarked on a crowdfunding campaign.

A few months ago, on Thundafund.com, he revealed that he is working with his friend and musician-producer, Brendan Jury, and fellow musos, Richard Bruyns (lapsteel) and Neil Pauw (drums).

He said: “It is still a long way to go to being produced and marketed to the world. Making the album a reality is quite a way away.”

He said he will be earning the revenue to see the album reach fruition through a crowdfunding campaign.

Fans can catch him at Parker’s Comedy Club at Silverstar Casino on Thursday.

It seems the album is now out, but more information has not been forthcoming from the organiser.

Kahn, will be supported by Lost & Found and Trevor Rebellor.

It promises to be a treat for fans.

• Tickets cost R150 and are available at Webticket. The show starts at 6.30pm.
