GIG OF THE WEEK

NOKUKHANYA DLAMINI & MIMI MTSHALI

Fringe Theatre at Joburg Theatre, Braamfontein (tonight)

Nokukhanya Dlamini

Every month the Lion of Africa Music Expressions, which are brought to you by Lion of Africa Insurance and Swazitainment Productions, bring audiences some of the best music. The events are growing ever stronger in the fight for South African artists to be recognised by their own people.

Last month, the talented Asanda Bam and Lindiwe Maxolo gave us a memorable show. And this month we meet Nokukhanya Dlamini and Mimi Mtshali, who will try to outshine the previous musicians.

If you are tired of the same old music that radio stations keep serving up then this gig will be a great refreshment. Judging from the previous sold-out concerts, the Lion of Africa Music Expressions concerts are badly needed, as they cater for a market that enjoys anything outside hip hop and house music.

The Fringe Theatre at the Joburg Theatre (cnr Simmonds Street and Stiemens Road, Braamfontein) is one of the best-equipped venues in the city as it boasts professional lighting which will guarantee a memorable musical experience.

Witness the fourth instalment and see what all the fuss is about. – Munya Vomo

• Tickets cost R150 and can be purchased at the theatre. The show starts at 7pm. For more information call 011 877 6800.
