GIG OF THE WEEK

Lion of Africa Music Expressions presents Swazi Dlamini

Yamaha Theatre: Marlboro, (tonight)

LION of Africa Music Expressions presents Swazi Dlamini as the final act of this year’s series. The event has featured the likes of Wanda Baloyi and Zamajobe.

Dlamini has a remarkable 10-year career as a solo artist. She is the true reflection of vocal talent blended with intense passion. Over the years she has performed on many stages including the Durban Playhouse where she recorded a live CD and DVD package.

We have since seen the best of her at the Lion of Africa Music Expressions stage where she previously gave a spectacular showcase of last year’s Soul of

Me album.

Among other accomplishments, the gifted singer has built her fan base beyond measure and it appears to be growing. Swazi’s versatility is deeply rooted in her musical background and upbringing, which enables her to stretch herself across various genres such as soul, gospel, jazz and even Maskandi. Some of her collaborations include Unathi Msengana, Kabomo Vilakazi, her husband and gifted viloinist Tshepo Mngoma, Nqubeko Mbatha and Joyous Celebration.

It being the last show she is doing this year, Dlamini will give you her best. – Tonight Reporter

• Tickets are available at Computicket for R150 each and the event starts at 7pm.
