GIG OF THE WEEK:

Swedish house mafia & local djs

Wild Waters, Boksburg (tonight and tomorrow)

Swedish House Mafia

One of the biggest electronic music groups, Swedish House Mafia, will ignite dance floors tonight and tomorrow in the Boksburg area.

Sadly, for fans who worshipped the trio, this will be their last tour together and we are lucky to be part of their final trek.

To make it interesting for the South African crowd, the group has asked local DJs to submit their mixes so they could choose the opening acts. A few made the cut, including Euphonik, who was happy to share the good news.

“I was honoured to hear that |I was selected to open for the fantastic guys,” said Euphonik.

He revealed that the competition was cut-throat and only a few people like him made it on to the list. Even the celebrated Goldfish, who also hoped to be part of this event, were not selected.

It is a big deal for Euphonik because the nod came from the group and not their management. He feels his submitted selection gave him the edge over others.

“I don’t even know what I am going to play, but to avoid stepping into their (Swedish House Mafia’s) playlist I am just going to play South African mixes. They are very strict when it comes to what who plays because if they don’t check, the DJs before them will play the songs that they plan to play in their set and that messes with their plans,” he explained.

The group plays tonight and tomorrow at Wild Waters (1 Margaret Lane, Bardene, Boksburg). They plan to give us |the hits from their well received albums, Until Now and Until One.

With this being your last chance to catch the Swedish House Mafia in action, you have to be there. Tonight’s show starts at 5pm while tomorrow's begins at 2pm.

“This is an international concert so shows end by midnight,” said Euphonik. | – Munyaradzi Vomo
