GIG OF THE WEEK

FÊTE DE LA MUSIQUE

Alliance Française and surrounding areas – De Kock and Rivier streets, Sunnyside East

(Sunday, from 11am)

If you have never been to an Alliance Francaise Fete de la Musique street party, then Sunday is your chance.

It is a colourful festival type of party happening on the streets of Pretoria in Sunnyside East in the barricaded De Kock and Rivier streets. So without the presence of cars, all you will see is a number of fun things to do from face-painters to hotdog stands. You need to dress in a festive fashion, although you must remain warm.

The Alliance Francaise will provide more entertainment for you in the form of musicians who will play at designated spots around the area. Some of these musicians include well-known French artist, Benjamin Piat, and 2014 Satma winner, Morore Morayks, Greg Georgiages, Given “Azah” Mphago, Afro G, Bamboo, The Sextons Dezzmuso, Marley Bloo, Mr Alive, Berglund Dan, Miss G, Ncamisa Nqana, Nono Nkoane, Sibusi Xaba, Zimkitha and others.

The event will have three stages: Alliance Française (cnr De Kock and Rivier sts), U-the-Space and Capital Arts Revolution (506 De Kock St) and Market@theSheds at Civil Consult (cnr Rivier and Jorissen sts).

This is a free, family-friendly event, so do spread the word. – Munya Vomo
