GIG OF THE WEEK

John Legend

Coca Cola Dome

(tomorrrow and Sunday)

THIS one is for all the guys who want to give their women an early Christmas present.

John Legend is the perfect gift. Take it from a man who saw him perform earlier in the week: every woman in the audience was under his spell.

The All of Me Tour has the power to make you forget about your problems. Given that the singer wrote the song All of Me

for his wife Chrissy Teigen, Legend brought her along, so you can witness, first hand, the love they share. There is a humility about Legend and it is evident when he talks about his life and how he has struggled to make a name for himself.

Most of the performances are done on the piano, with about three or so singers and a handful of people on stringed instruments. No dancers, no fireworks or any other sort of theatrics. Just simple soul music by a man with a lot to say.

If you’re a purist, one thing you might not like is how he switches from one song to the next without completing them, especially because this is a far cry from how a song sounds on the CD.

While he may sit at the piano most of the time, he does engage with the audience.

To all guys out there, from one man to the next, this is just what she might need before the year is up. – Munya Vomo
